Blast room equipment is used in a wide variety of industries that require surface preparation prior to the application of a protective coating. The surface of the work piece is cleaned by a mixture of abrasive and high pressure compressed air being directed at the work piece by a blast operator. The operator holds a venturi nozzle tipped hose in his hands and controls the abrasive/air mixture generated at the blast machine with an "on the hose" operator switch.

Empire's new RBT36-F robotic pressure-blast system opens the door for many firms to cash in on the benefits of high precision air blasting. Capable of processing parts up to 12 inches in diameter by 12 inches tall, the RBT36-F employs a Fanuc 6-axis robot to control nozzle movement plus a DC or Servo drive to control part movement, enabling users to assure the quality control and deliver the process validation so often required by today's aerospace, automotive and medical-equipment sectors.

Indexing Turntable systems have been a staple in the manufacturing industry for many years.   An indexing turntable provides precise positioning of the work piece in front of blasting nozzles for guaranteed repeatability of process requirements.  These units allow for a variety of loading and unloading options, ranging from simple manual operation to more sophisticated robotic operations.

Empire offers a variety of standard platforms along with custom systems to accomodate almost any size work piece.  Depending on customers production requirements, configurations can range from 2 -24 rotating part stations.  Along with precise positioning of the indexing turntable, the rotating part stations add to the assurance of quality and complete part coverage during the blasting cycle.  These systems also allow for a variety of nozzle manipulation packages ranging from simple stationary nozzles, horizontal/vertical linear operations to more sophisticated robotic movement.
